“During our walk today, Tommy picked up a stick by the side of the road. He started methodically beating it on the ground, then completely bashing it on the road and it broke into two sticks! He looked at the half-a-stick in his right hand and then glanced at the other half on the asphalt and squealed in glee as he picked it up with his left. He then proceeded to take both sticks and touch them end to end like we do in your class, he then stopped again to put on stick on the road length-wise and then push with the primary stick, pull and push at that! He followed that with taking both in each hand again and striking a beat to which I tried to recall the words to Hambone (I always remember the part well of Daddy giving a diamond ring or a mockingbird).
It was a long walk back to our house after that discovery, but it was well worth watching him recall class activities and it just made my heart sing.”
